In addition, a solid background in mechanical behavior of materials, physical metallurgy and thermodynamics is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a dynamic and collaborative research environment are essential.

    Application:

The position is full-time, and payment follows the German TV-L 13 scale. The starting date is as soon as possible. The FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg intends to increase the number of women in research and teaching positions and, therefore, strongly encourages female researchers to apply. Disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualification.

Please send your application (including a cover letter describing your research interests, curriculum vitae, transcript of records as well as contact information of two references) to comp-mat-sci-jobs@ww.uni-erlangen.de.

  • Subject: "Nanostructure and crystallization mechanisms in Phase-Change Materials for Advanced Embedded Memory Applications"

    General aim:

This work aims to study finely the optimized chalcogenides (typically GST) integrated in memory cells through original experiments to follow in situ the crystallization of thin films and the nanostructures of PCM in both amorphous and crystalline states.

The evolution of stress and microstructure will be studied in thin films and then in patterned structures. In situ measurements of curvature and X-ray diffraction will thus be carried out in the laboratory and on a synchrotron beamline. And a reflection will be undertaken to carry out operando diffraction measurements on dedicated structures. It will be a matter of measuring, by time-resolved diffraction, the crystallization of a memory cell during cycling. This work will be performed in strong partnership with STMicroelectronics.

    Requirements:

The ideal candidate holds a PhD degree in Material Sciences (or equivalent), has a solid background in physics, good communication skills and is proficient in written and spoken English. Knowledge of x-ray scattering (and possibly previous experience with synchrotron radiation)and programming skills will be highly appreciated.

    Resume:

    Starting year: 2020

    Laboratory: IM2NP (http://www.im2np.fr/)

    Industry: STMicroelectronics,Crolles/Rousset –France (http://www.st.com)

Duration : 2 years (with 1 year possible extension).

    Location: IM2NP-Marseille

    Application:

a CV, two letters of recommendation and a letter of motivation should be sent by email to Prof. Olivier THOMAS (olivier.thomas@im2np.fr) and Dr. Magali PUTERO (magali.putero@im2np.fr).

  • The Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung is seeking for a new Post-Doc, on:

'Correlative 3D-Precession Electron Diffraction / Atom Probe Tomography'.

    Subject background:

Scope of the three‐year project is the development of a 3D TEM orientation mapping technique that provides information as known from 3D‐EBSD but non‐destructively and potentially with 50x better nm spatial resolution.

    Your task:

Establishment of a procedure that allows semi‐automated acquisition of a tilt‐series of 2D‐PED scans and the subsequent measurement of the same specimen by APT. Support the team in Grenoble with the development of the 3D‐PED reconstruction algorithm. Digitally merge multidimensional information from TEM and APT and quantify information on grain boundary segregation. Specimen preparation by focused ion beam milling.

    Candidate:

We are looking for a highly motivated Post‐Doc with a physics or materials science background. The candidate should have experience with and great interest in TEM method development, digital image processing, programming, multidimensional data analysis and materials science.

    Application:

The interested candidate should upload a comprehensive application including application letter, detailed scientific CV, his/her publications, two reference /support letters from his professors and details about courses / classes / grades here.

Further information are available in the following document: «Post-Doc position at MPIE on 3D-PED-APT»
