Dear Colleagues,
During the Spring E-MRS 2018 in Strasbourg, France (15-22 June, 2018) we* will hold a symposium titled “Strength, plasticity, fracture and fatigue behavior controlled by interfaces and grain boundaries” (Symp. AA). More details about the symposium can be found at: https://www.european-mrs.com/strength-plasticity-fracture-and-fatigue-behaviour-controlled-interfaces-and-grain-boundaries-emrs
Please consider submitting an abstract for an oral presentation or poster related to the symposium scope. Also, please encourage young post-docs and PhD students to submit and abstract and attend this meeting that is being sponsored by the MECANO network. The meeting will be an excellent place to network and showcase your research.
E-MRS is also sponsoring Graduate Student Awards of €450 for each symposium (https://www.european-mrs.com/meetings/2016-spring/graduate-student-awards). Winners are chosen at the conference and awarded at the Wednesday Plenary (must be present to win).
The deadline for abstract submission is 18 January 2018.
*Megan Cordill, Sandrine Brochard, Marc Legros and Erik Bitzek

The symposium "Mechanical properties at small scales" is organised at the joint meeting of the German and European Physical Societies (DPG and EPS) in Berlin, March 11-16 2018. You will find a more detailled description of the scope of the symposium in the attached file.
On behalf of the organizing committee we would like to invite you to participate in this symposium. Your participation and that of your co-workers will be a valuable contribution to the success of this meeting. Please feel free to distribute this announcement to your colleagues and students working in the field.
Please submit your abstract at:
https://www.dpg-tagung.de/b18/submission.html
(Choose “MM: Metal and Material Physics Division” and then “Topic Session (Symposium of MM and EPS): Mechanical properties at Small scale”)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE SUBMISSION IS DECEMBER 1st !
The symposium organizers : Gerhard Dehm, Olivier Thomas, Laurent Pizzagalli

This is the latest in a series of conferences dedicated to the use of X-ray, electron and optical coherence for phase retrieval and coherent scattering, imaging matter as well as probing structure and dynamics. The conference first took place at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, in May 2001, and is now held every 2 years. It is traditionally held in a waterside location (Palm Cove 2003, Porquerolles 2005, Asilomar 2007, Warnemunde 2010, Fukuoka 2012, Evanston 2014 and Saint Malo 2016) which encourages a relaxed
interactive experience.Conference chairs: Ian Robinson, Yong Chu.
Save the date: Conference from June 25 to 28th 2018.
Draft programm is available in the document below. Further information on the conference will follow soon.
