• Nanobrücken 2018: Nanomechanical Testing Conference & Bruker Hysitron User Meeting, will take place on February 20th – 22nd, 2018 at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen, Germany. The event covers all aspects of nanomechanical and nanotribological testing. Topics include in-situ experimentation, theory/simulation and biomechanical testing. Nightly social events and a conference dinner provide a valuable forum for networking.

    Abstracts deadline : January 12th, 2018

  • At the Department Materials Physics of the Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL), Daniel Kiener focusses on the understanding of deformation and failure processes on a nanometer length scale. Aim of his work is a knowledge driven design of novel high strength and extremely fracture resistant materials. This effort is now also recognized by the European Research Council (ERC), which supports the excellent fundamental research of Dr. Kiener via a Consolidator Grant over the next five years by two million Euros, awarded to the project TOUGHIT* (Tough Interface Tailored Nanostructured Metals)

  • Dear Colleagues,

During the Spring E-MRS 2018 in Strasbourg, France (15-22 June, 2018) we* will hold a symposium titled “Strength, plasticity, fracture and fatigue behavior controlled by interfaces and grain boundaries” (Symp. AA). More details about the symposium can be found at: https://www.european-mrs.com/strength-plasticity-fracture-and-fatigue-behaviour-controlled-interfaces-and-grain-boundaries-emrs

Please consider submitting an abstract for an oral presentation or poster related to the symposium scope. Also, please encourage young post-docs and PhD students to submit and abstract and attend this meeting that is being sponsored by the MECANO network. The meeting will be an excellent place to network and showcase your research.

E-MRS is also sponsoring Graduate Student Awards of €450 for each symposium (https://www.european-mrs.com/meetings/2016-spring/graduate-student-awards). Winners are chosen at the conference and awarded at the Wednesday Plenary (must be present to win).

The deadline for abstract submission is 18 January 2018
