The French community of dislocations and mechanical properties of solids will gather for 3 days in Rennes, from April 10^th to 12^th, 2017.

Before the GDRi Mecano General meeting that will take place in Toulouse, France, May 9-10th, 2017, several meetings may be of interest for the community:

• Spring E-MRS, Strasbourg, France, 22-26th May 2017  (in particular : Small scale mechanical behaviour of interfaces)
  (abstract submission open till january 18th, 2017)
• QEM 2017 (Quantitative Electron Microscopy - school), Sete, France, May 22nd, June 2nd, 2017 
• Nanobrücken (Hysitron), Manchester, UK, April 4th-6th, 2017 

There are also the general TMS meeting in SanDiego (March 26-Feb 2, 2017)and the spring MRS in Phoenix where several sessions will address the topics and themes of Mecano, but the abstract submission is closed for those.

The International School "Son et Lumière 2017", will take place in Les Houches, France from the 17th to 28th April 2017.

The “Son et Lumière” school takes place every two years since 2006, and aims at gathering different scientific communities working on acoustics, optics, quantum optomechanics, thermal transport in condensed matter and nanomaterials.

The school will give the opportunity to PhD students, young researchers, early-career scientists and engineers to participate in a series of lectures on the emerging fields that combine light and sound at the nanoscale. Top class Experts from Universities, Research Institutions and Industry worldwide will share their knowledge and experience, among them H.J. Maris, B. Perrin, D.G. Cahill, G. Fytas, C.K. Sun, E. Weig, etc. General and basic lectures will be combined with talks dedicated to the most recent applications in the field.
